Our Sporting Hero Award – Finalists

DONNA GODWYN

Donna works for Bury FC Community for disabled children and main stream children visiting schools to encourage them into sport. She has helped so many children enjoy sport that they would not normally be able to access.

CASEY LYNCHEY

Casey set up a women’s walking football group to encourage women to get into sport. We have over 30 women now training and we have entered a league! Women have joined and been encouraged by Casey regardless of ability and it has helped with fitness and mental health and also friendships for the women involved. She is driven and determined and goes out of her way to set games up and make the training enjoyable for all. Women who would never have thought of being ableto play football are given a chance to get involved and Casey is behind them 100 percent. It’s amazing to see how the women have grown in confidence thanks to Casey. She has recently hurt her knee but still coaches the women and helps them getting other coaches into train us. It’s an amazing team and Casey is amazing with everyone involved!
