Bury Council

Bury Council

Bury Council was formed in 1974 following local government re-organisation, and is now one of the ten districts in Greater Manchester. As a metropolitan council, Bury is a ‘single-tier’ organisation that is responsible for the full range of local authority services, from education and social services to highways, parks and leisure. It is the borough’s largest employer, with more than 8,000 employees.

The Mayor of Bury said

“As Mayor, I am proud to support 2017’s Pride of Bury Awards. This year’s event will tell some inspiring stories of some incredible people that make our Borough such a special place to live”
